Welcome – Thank you for choosing Washington Orthotics & Prosthetics

Whether you are a new patient or an existing one who has been coming to see us for years, we want you to know we are here for you every step of the way. We will provide you with a wealth of information but first we want you to know, you are not alone.

Every day, approximately 500 Americans lose a limb. While the loss is not a rare occurrence, when it happens to you, you might feel as if you are going through this difficult time alone. Just know, we are here to help. It is our hope that you not only survive limb loss, but that you also get back to all the things in your life you enjoy including your mobility and then some.

Our mission, along with the ACA (amputee coalition of America) is to empower people affected by limb loss to achieve their full potential through education, support, advocacy, and promote limb loss prevention. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with limb loss and their families and to providing the absolute best in prosthetic care.

With so many different insurance requirements – we will need to begin the authorization process right away to allow us to provide prosthetic services in a timely way.  Our experts will meet with you and educate you about the entire insurance process.  We know the more you are involved early on, in the process – the sooner we can provide you services.

Ultimately, we are simply trying to obtain the most supportive documentation to allow your insurance to cover your claim.  Our goal is to follow insurance requirements precisely – so we do not burden you financially whenever possible.  We want to maintain a lifelong relationship with you in providing the best prosthetic services possible – so education and communication will be key.

For new patients to our clinic, who have recently undergone an amputation or current prosthetic users who are relocating to our clinic, welcome and thank you for choosing WA O&P!

We will schedule a consultation to discuss your goals and options with our Prosthetic team.

For new patients to our clinic, who have recently undergone an amputation or current prosthetic users who are relocating to our clinic, welcome and thank you for choosing WA O&P!  We will schedule a consultation to discuss your goals and options with our Prosthetic team.

Once we have had the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your personal challenges and goals in regaining your mobility, together we will create a game plan to lead us there. This will include meeting with Kristi Lizotte, our Authorization Liaison who will guide you through the maze of insurance requirements.  We will assist you in obtaining a visit with a rehabilitation doctor, known as a Physiatrist or PM&R Doctor (physical medicine and rehabilitation ) who will perform a thorough physical examination and write a detailed prescription for you and document your goals and prosthetic needs.

Physiatrists are M.D. ‘s and have a broad medical training that allows them to diagnose, assess and manage disorders that produce temporary or permanent impairment. They develop and oversee individual rehabilitation care and pain management plans for the patients, with the goals of enhancing performance and decreasing pain.

We also will discuss a plan for physical therapy to best match your lifestyle depending on your goals, location, and ability to regularly attend.  We can also offer to arrange a peer to peer visit with another amputee who has undergone an amputation to meet with personally.

Remember – receiving a prosthesis can be a detailed process involving different specialists and require specific documentation for your insurance.  Yes – we understand the process may seem complex and involved, but please be patient as we all work to help you regain your mobility in the fastest way possible!

Please retain the contact information below regarding your “go to” person in providing prosthetic services and care moving forward.
